Is Caída free?

Yes. You don’t have to pay, sign up or download anything to play in the browser. Games are played with Riales, the game’s currency, which you get for free every day.

What are Riales?

Each game costs 1 Rial, against the computer or online, and if you win you get it back. You start with 10 and can never have more than 10. Every day you can collect 2 with “Daily reward” in the menu; the ones you don’t collect that day don’t carry over. In the browser version, if you run out of Riales, the “Ask · +1 Rial” button gives you one right away, up to 3 times a day. The tutorial doesn’t cost anything.

Do I need an account?

No. Without an account, your name, your settings and your Riales stay in the browser or phone you play on, and if you clear the site’s data or play in a private window, you start from scratch. If you sign in with Google, your Riales are kept in your account and you also get the weekly ranking, friends and invites. You can sign in whenever you want from Settings.

How do I play with my friends?

Tap “Play online” in the menu and then “Create room”. The game gives you a code and a link to share, on WhatsApp for example. Your friends tap the link or type the code under “Join”. Two to four people can play, each for themselves or in teams, each from their own phone or computer: people playing in the browser and people with the Android app share the same room.

Does it work on iPhone and iPad?

Yes, in Safari. To keep it like any other app, open jugarcaida.com in Safari, tap the Share button and choose “Add to Home Screen”. From the icon it opens full screen, without the browser bar. The “Install Caída” button in the game menu reminds you of these steps.

What about Android?

It’s on Google Play. The app also lets you play over Wi-Fi, without internet, with anyone on the same network. If you’d rather not install anything, in Chrome the game menu has an “Install Caída” button that adds it to your home screen like an app.

Can I play without internet?

Against the computer, yes: once you’ve opened the game with a connection, the browser keeps it and it opens next time even without signal. Online games need a connection, of course.

How long do I have to play?

Each turn lasts 10 seconds. If time runs out, the game plays a card for you so the game doesn’t stall. The dealer also has 10 seconds to choose between calling “1, 2, 3, 4” or “4, 3, 2, 1”.

What if my connection drops in an online game?

The game goes on: while you’re gone, a bot plays for you, and when you come back you get your seat back. If you reloaded the page or closed the browser, the menu offers “Back to online game”. If you let two turns in a row go by without playing, a bot also takes your place until you play again.

What does getting skunked mean?

It means ending the game with 0 points; in teams, the team ending at 0. In Spanish they say you’re left as the “zapatero”. It’s a table custom: it doesn’t change who wins, but the game announces it at the end so nobody forgets.

Why are there no 8s or 9s?

Because Caída is played with the 40-card Spanish deck, which doesn’t have them. After the 7 comes the 10 (the jack), then the 11 (the knight) and the 12 (the king). That’s why 7-10-11 is a Patrulla in Caída, and a 7 followed by a 10 counts as a run in a multiple capture.

My family plays differently. Can I set that up?

Probably. The rules change from one region to another, which is why you can turn on variants when you set up a game, like Caída beats canto, Tribilín wins the game or the regional cantos Registríco, Casa Chica and Casa Grande. They’re explained in the rules and on the cantos page. If your family plays with a rule that isn’t there, tell us.

What is Expert mode?

It’s for people who already know the game well. In normal mode the game works out each play for you: you tap a card and it takes what it should. In Expert mode you choose the card and the cards you take from the table, you announce your cantos and every mistake costs a point. Online, an Expert game lasts 20 minutes at most.

Expert also offers Viveza, off by default: one False canto and one Steal per cycle, with accusations from an opponent’s avatar and a 3-second pause before closing. It can be turned on in local, LAN and private online games. How Viveza works.

What data does the game use?

Only what it needs to work: your player name and your preferences stay on your device, and the online server only sees what the game needs. It’s all explained in the privacy policy (in Spanish).

How do I report a problem or suggest something?

Write to us at infoponlonline@gmail.com. If it’s a bug, tell us which device and browser you were playing on and what was happening at the table: it helps us a lot to find it.

If you still have questions, write to us. If not, let’s play.
